At the ongoing IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin which was inaugurated earlier in the day, Ford announced 500 units of Ford EcoSport Special Edition, of which 120 units are allotted to the United Kingdom. Keen IAB readers would know that Ford India's Chennai plant would ship to the European Union starting early next year, and will be the only plant handling demand from that region.

Ford EcoSport Special Edition Panther Black
The India-made EcoSport hits the UK market next year as a special edition and once the 120 units are delivered, Ford would begin delivering the Titanium variant.

The Limited Edition model offers 17-inch alloy wheels, leather interior and a Ford SYNC AppLink package which voice-controls smartphone apps once the device is paired to the car.

The infotainment system also allows 12 months of unlimited audio book downloads from Audioteka to the car. The car comes in a 'Panther Black' livery in the Titanium trim, and is priced from £16,995 (17.78 lakh rupees) on road. Customers can book the car through a dedicated website, the link to which is available on Ford's Facebook page. Or they could order their car through one of 530 Ford dealers in the UK.

The engine options are the same as those available in India - a 1.0-liter 125PS Ecoboost petrol and a 1.5-liter 91PS diesel engine.

Following the limited edition, the EcoSport would grace showrooms in the Titanium spec featuring 16-inch alloy wheels, silver roof rails, power wing mirrors, keyless entry and push-button start.

The Titanium variant can be had with the aforementioned engines, as well as a 112PS 1.5-liter petrol engine with a choice of a 6-speed automatic transmission. Ford has not announced lower variants for the UK.
