An Indian Autos Blog reader, who wished to stay unnamed, has mailed us images of the Fiat Linea Classic. The Linea Classic is dimensionally identical to the current Linea, but its interior and the body are basic.

Chrome touches, foglamps, and body colored mirrors have been deleted.

The new base variant misses out on auto climate control, driver airbag, multifunction steering wheel, brushed aluminium highlights, beige dashboard, chrome body touches and alloy wheels.

Mechanically, the 1.3L diesel powertrain gets downgraded to 75bhp (used on the Punto). The petrol variant however stays where it is in terms of spec, with the 1.4-liter engine managing a more decent 88bhp output.

The Linea Classic misses out on airbags, audio controls on the steering, auto climate control and a music system.

Fiat will position the Linea Classic below the current Linea to compete with the upper variants of the Honda Amaze, Tata Manza, Toyota Etios and the Ford Fiesta Classic. We aren't given any hints on the margin of the price difference, but it is hardly a few hours before we get the actual numbers.

The engine is a de-spec'ed version of the 1.3L motor which produces 75bhp.

We're also told that a Classic+ variant would be launched tomorrow with a few features reinstated from the higher variants. The rehashed variant structure also makes a little extra room for the incoming Linea facelift variants, expected early next year.
