The 2014 Toyota Corolla has been spotted testing in India for the first time. Unveiled in June in Europe, the India spec version will be same as the one sold to Europe.

Here are the spyshots of the first disguised test mule on Indian roads that were uploaded to Autocar India. The car's presence here suggests that the launch may happen sometime in early 2014, perhaps at the Auto Expo in February.

The eleventh generation model of the world's best selling car is substantially improved compared to the Corolla Altis. The exterior follows a new design language and the interior is completely revamped in design, fabric and trims.

As for engine options, the current 138bhp 1.8-litre petrol and the 87bhp 1.4-litre diesel should march on with minor tweaks. The petrol variant would be mated either to a 6-speed manual or a 7-step CVT gearbox while the diesel engine is available only with the manual gearbox.

Once the new Skoda Octavia is launched, the Corolla Altis will be the oldest car in the D Segment. Toyota need to bring the new Corolla out soon to avoid losing ground, even though the declining segment is discouraging an early launch.
