The VW Tiguan Match, a new variant which replaces the SE variant, has been launched in the UK.

VW say that in spite of being cheaper than the mid-level SE variant by a good 450 Pounds (around Rs. 42,250), the Match offers 700 Pounds (around Rs. 65,750) worth additional equipment.

The VW Tiguan Match comes with a leather wrapped steering wheel and a touchscreen multimedia infotainment system which incorporates satellite navigation, Bluetooth, iPhone, SD card and USB connectivity, DAB digital radio and steering mounted controls.

There is also a standard two-zone climatic control, folding picnic racks on the back of the front seats and 60:40 split rear seats which can be moved longitudinally for about 16cm. The rear seat's reclining angle can be adjusted by 23 degrees.

Another trick in the Tiguan Match's bag is the latest generation of Park Assist self-parking system which controls the steering wheel to either reverse- or parallel-park the car in spaces which are longer than the car by at least 1.1m.

Powertrain options are a 160PS 1.4 litre TSI petrol, a 180PS 2.0 litre TSI petrol and a 2.0 litre TDI engine which is available in two states of tune - 140PS and 177PS. The engines are paired either to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Both 4x2 and 4x4 versions are on offer.

Order book for the VW Tiguan Match is open in the UK with deliveries commencing next month. Prices range from 23,245 Pounds (around Rs. 21.84 lakhs) to 28,740 Pounds (around Rs. 26.98 lakhs).
