TVS is looking to magnify its sizeable market presence that it has in the African region by setting up local assembly plants.

The new products in question will be specifically developed for the African markets. However details remain sketchy but expect them to be frugal small capacity two wheelers.

Speaking to on the occasion, Mr. K.N. Radhakrishnan, President and CEO, TVS Motor Co said -

Uganda is a market with large potential for two wheelers and with commencement of the assembly line and introduction of new products, we plan to reach 25% market share within a year of commencing operation with our new distributor.

TVS has appointed Yuvraj International Uganda Ltd. as its new official distributor in the African nation. TVS has been present in Uganda for over a decade with bikes imported from India and the local assembly plant is expected to significantly boost its presence and sales.

TVS is not the only Indian two-wheeler manufacturer to be interested in Africa. Regular Indian Autos Blog readers know that Hero Motocorp was the first one to set up a local assembly line in Kenya.
