The Maruti Wagon R Stingray is all set to be launched tomorrow and the Maruti has teased this already revealed and leaked car through a behind-the-scenes video of the TV commercial.

The official website of the car has also went online but it bears only a dark silhouette of the car. The website reads, “Get close to a car that’s just your thing!”

The Stingray adopts a completely different front fascia compared to the regular Wagon R. The projector headlamps, chrome finished front grill and a large secondary air dam render it a sporty appeal to an otherwise mundane family hatchback.

Except for the alloy wheels, there is nothing new in the profile of the car.

The taillights of the Stingray are highlighted by chrome cladding. The name “Stingray” is etched on the chrome strip above the license plate enclosure. On the inside, the car gets all black interior instead of the normal Wagon R’s dual tone theme.

Under the skin, the Wagon R carries no changes. This means it’s powered by a 1.0 liter K-Series petrol motor pumping out 68PS and 90 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

This is crazy… 5th car on the same engine after Alto-K10, WagonR, Estilo and A-Star. Old wine, new bottle, yet again.
The least they could have done is add a cylinder and do up the torque a bit which is so lacking in WagonR, but nahin…sab chalta hai… This is the limit to which Maruti can stretch its brand name and service center network, but with customers just wiling to lap it up, I won’t be surprised to see a 6th car on the same engine…!!
