Mahindra had been on a product launching spree over the past two years. The Indian UV specialist started off with the Mahindra XUV500 which transported the brand to a whole new level.

The launch of the XUV500 was followed by the launches of the Quanto, Ssangyong Rexton, e2o and Verito Vibe. Some of the new products have had successful starts.

However, for the next two years, Mahindra is not looking to launch any brand new products. Dr. Pawan Goenka, President, automotive sector of Mahindra, said -

We were ahead of the industry and we did all our major launches in last two years. This year we don’t have any new product launches, we do have variants for launch. Absolute new products will be launched only in FY2016.

Regular Indian Autos Blog readers know that Mahindra is working on a compact SUV codenamed S101. Dr. Goenka's statement gives us a rough time frame of when to expect the car.

Mahindra is not happy with the sales of the e2o. The company hopes that a subsidy for electric vehicles would be announced soon.

During the next two years, the car maker will be occupied in making minor improvements to its existing products and launching new variants. Speaking of variants, Mahindra has announced earlier that the Verito EV would be launched in the first quarter of FY2014-15.

Commenting on the lackluster run of the e2o, Dr. Goenka said -

We have been disappointed with the sales of the e2o. We are hoping for some announcement on the subsidy very soon. If e2o sales take off then we will launch the electric Verito as planned.
