Appears as if the Chevrolet Sail is heading for a facelift, back home in China. These images showing a camouflaged prototype are that of a refreshed Sail which was caught testing recently.

The front fascia seems to be largely unchanged on this prototype.

After observing them closely, we conclude that changes would be more of a model year update than a full-blown makeover. Subtle re-profiling of the headlights and taillights are expected while components such as the bumpers will continue unchanged. We don't notice any change to the radiator grille either.

Inside, the most noticeable change is the new steering wheel. Where the current Sail has a '3D' beige colored wheel, we notice that the prototype sports a black colored unit with contoured elements resembling that of a Cruze. Underneath the hood, the Sail sedan for China could get an engine upgrade to 1.5-liters from the current options of a 1.2 and 1.4-liter.

New steering wheel looks a bit more upmarket.

The Sail sedan, which was launched in India after the Sail U-VA hatchback, was registering a sales improvement. For the month of April, GM India witnessed sales of the sedan to peak at 2,469 units, and the company reporting 10,000 bookings. However production of the diesel variants were halted in early June for some 'quality issues' in the Smartech diesel engine. Up until now, production has not restarted.

The petrol variants continue to be sold, but is bought in very limited numbers.
