The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will make its first public appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

The new Camaro Convertible gets the same sleek front fascia of the 2014 Camaro Coupe.

For once, the Americans decided to go with aerodynamics rather than brutal power output (mind you we are not suggesting that 432bhp is tame in any sense). According to the company, the functional hood vent improves engine cooling and also enhances the aerodynamic efficiency by reducing the lift. The car also gets a rear spoiler to keep it planted to the road.

Just like its hardtop sibling that was unveiled at the New York Auto Show, the Camaro Convertible has a revised front grille, headlamps and bumper. The rear with its rectangular combination lights is also reminiscent with the 2014 Camaro Coupe.

Power is courtesy of a 6.2 litre V8 petrol engine that has 432bhp and 569 Nm of torque in store. The engine is mated either to a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The latter comes with active fuel management and variable valve timing. The manual version accelerates from rest to 100kph in 5.4 seconds which is just 0.2 seconds slower than the hardtop version.

Chevrolet offers the MyLink connected radio multimedia infotainment system with USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity. The system can sync with smart phones and has text-to-speech capability apart from voice commands.

The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe and Covertible models are expected to go on sale in Europe by the end of this year. In Germany, the Camaro Coupe will retail from 39,990 Euros (around Rs. 34.79 lakhs) while the Convertible will start from 44,990 Euros (around Rs. 39.14 lakhs).
