The Renault Pulse has gotten itself two new television commercials with Bollywood star Anil Kapoor in the lead.

The Pulse, which goes by the tagline "Life Needs A Pulse", has often been seen as the better looking Nissan Micra (as compared to the old Micra). However, the premium pricing has not helped Renault in selling the Pulse and as a result Nissan sells way more Micras than Renault.

Introduced first as a diesel only model, Renault appended the petrol version a few months into its launch. Mechanically, the Pulse is identical to the Micra. The 1.2-liter three cylinder forms the petrol versions while the 1.5-liter four-cylinder is seen on the diesels. The Pulse is only available with a manual transmission, while the 2013 Micra gets a CVT automatic in its petrol version.

Will Renault India consider a CVT for the Pulse now?

With the 2013 Micra having been launched today, we doubt if Renault India would be able to hold on to the Pulse's sole USP - its looks - as the new Micra no longer looks girlish.

These commercials can be taken as a worried Renault ensuring that the Pulse continues to remain in focus, even though a better version of it (the Micra) has been launched today.

While Anil Kapoor stars for the Renault Pulse, Ranbir Kapoor advocates for the Nissan Micra. So which car, or rather, which Kapoor would you choose?
