Spied - Jeep Wranglers and Grand Cherokee caught at a service station in Chennai

The Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Grand Cherokee would kick start the American brand's Indian debut, which would take place sometime during the festive season (October).

Here are a whole bunch of images which were snapped by Team Fiat members 'naveen2cool' and 'DRIV3R'. The Jeeps seem to be undergoing a maintenance check/service at the local Fiat service station in Chennai.

The members also report that the prototypes had a GPS and a system that analyzed various parameters. The Wrangler Unlimited is a diesel version while the Wrangler Sport is a petrol.

Further, we also see that the 2011 Grand Cherokee continues to test alongside the 2014 Grand Cherokee. For reference purposes, the 2014 Grand Cherokee is MH 12 JZ 5089 while the 2011 MY is MH 12 JM 9248. Fiat India's MD, Mr. Nagesh Basavanhalli, confirmed to us that they would only bring the latest products into India. As a result, expect the 2014 MY Grand Cherokee to be launched here.

Jeep would commence sales in the 10 biggest Indian cities and would have its own dedicated showrooms. Initially, the Jeeps could be brought in as CBUs with the company taking a call on local CKD assembly later on.

Expect a price tag of about INR 20 lakhs upwards for the Wrangler and about INR 45-50 lakhs for the Grand Cherokee.
