Financial Express reports that according to its sources, the bookings for the EcoSport has crossed 17,000 in just two weeks from the launch. The overwhelming response for the car is sure to delight Ford India which was in a dire need of a turnaround specialist. The interest in the EcoSport also reiterates the fact that Indian's love mini SUVs.

Not surprisingly, the diesel variants enjoy the highest popularity and dealerships in some cities have reportedly stopped taking bookings for the EcoSport diesel. Mr. Vinay Piparsania, executive director for marketing, sales and service, Ford India, stated -

We have had an overwhelming response and are now consolidating the order list. This is quite high and unprecedented for us at Ford. Dealers have certain allocations. In case that gets over, they will keep the customers informed of when they can expect to book the car and get it delivered.

Even as Ford issued a voluntary recall of the diesel variants of Ford EcoSport, the orders keep piling up steadily. We expect official booking numbers from Ford India in the days to come.

The Ford EcoSport's price range overlaps with popular premium hatchbacks and sub four metre sedans which enables it to have a wider audience base. It is also cheaper than its main rival Renault Duster by a huge margin.
