Joginder Singh, president and managing director, Ford India said –

We had high expectations of  the Ford EcoSport and the unabated response post the launch has been truly gratifying. Consumers are appreciating the value-for-money proposition that we are offering in the EcoSport’s compelling and smart package. We thank our customers for their overwhelming response and appreciate their patience. The Ford India team is working closely with the suppliers at our Chennai facility to enhance output of the Ecosport to reduce the waiting period and to meet the high demand.

Ford India says that the footfall in its 260 customer touch points across the country has increased and enquiries on other Ford cars have also increased.

The much awaited SUV was launched on June 26 and the bookings commenced the same day (though dealers were taking bookings much prior to the launch). Offered in 10 variants with two petrol and one diesel engine, the mini SUV starts at a hatchback rivaling price of Rs. 5.59 lakhs (for the base 1.5L petrol variant). The diesel variant starts from 6.69 lakhs (both the prices are ex-showroom Delhi).

The response for the Ford EcoSport goes to prove India’s love for compact crossovers/ mini SUVs.

    With equivalent Pricing, of course….

  2. Rakesh Patel says:

Had they made the Dimensions like that of Premier Rio, they would have got double the Bookings, as India does live in Lanes, By-Lanes & Alleys too.

People who were looking to buy vehicles like the Swift, DZire and even Amaze, are going for EcoSport because of its competitive pricing and also it covers wide range of price segments including small cars, sedans and even SUVs,” said another dealer.

    1. Deepak Chablani says:

Since the Ecosport is no SUV, the comparison with Amaze or Dzire segment is natural because of the pricing.

Just a question out of curiosity -Does the Ecosport offer the practicality of Amaze ? The Ecosport falls short when it comes to interior space and boot space since its strictly a 4 seater car. And, it’s even more expensive than Amaze. The base variant Diesel Amaze with ABS and EBD comes at 6.03 lacs and the Ecosport base variant is about 6.69 lacs and the next variant is almost a lac far. Not too sure about it, may its a just a show off thing.

Good numbers indeed, Ford can breathe a little easy in India now.

Hope the Diesel variant issues are getting sorted out and I do hope the newly released Ecsoprt is not as bad as the Figo when it was launched. The initial set of Figo’s was continuously plagued by teething issues but Ford started releasing niggle free Figo’s only after first 18-24 months.

This is roughly in line with the Amaze booking numbers wherein it clocked more than 22,000 bookings within 3 weeks of launch. Ford has clocked 30,000 in a month’s time (adding the 14 days of booking / test drive made available prior to official launch + 17 days post launch) ! 🙂

      Congrats for buying Amaze….

Please do not call this as ‘SUV’!

      Hahaha lol. Agreed
