The 2014 Toyota Corolla (or rather the European specification 2014 Toyota Corolla) has just entered production in Turkey. European sales are expected to commence in the coming months.

The first video talks about the design of the new Corolla. The Euro spec Corolla has a more swooping design to it than the sportier looking Corolla for the American markets. Toyota say that in the US, Corolla owners are self driven and the average age group is much lower than that of Europe or Asia.

In markets such as Thailand and India where the Corolla would cater to the rear seat seeking businessmen, a more mature and less sporty design is in place. The headlights of the car come with integrated daytime running lights and there are certain design elements up front such as the wide grill which speak about the ‘keen look’ of the car.

The wheelbase of the car sees an extension of 100mm while the height has been reduced by 5mm. Inside, a combination of soft touch plastics, piano black color finish with silver accents and blue back-lighting create a premium ambiance, according to Toyota.

The next video is all about the way the Corolla drives. You can check out multiple angles of the Corolla while it is on the move.

The Corolla is expected to arrive in India in the middle of next year. Needless to say, both petrol and diesel engine options would be available.

Yes, let us choose. I live in the US and think the American version looks stupid (no offense to those of you who like it, but I very much dislike it). I was planning to buy the new Corolla but now have to consider other cars again. The European version isn’t bad; if we could have that here I’d probably go for it.

Good looking, but the American Corolla is more exciting. Toyota should atleast give a powerful engine lineup. The 1.4 D4D should Not be used, Toyota should offer the 1.8 Diesel atleast, if not the 2 Liter diesel. Look at the Verna’s sales data – the 1.6 diesel outsells the 1.4 diesel.

For the very first time, we see Toyota actually – design. They have taken the Hyundai’s fluidic concept and elegant-ized it.
