Video - 2014 BMW X5 can traverse all sorts of terrains with ease

The 2014 BMW X5 has grown better than its predecessor in every aspect.

It has to be mentioned that the car's design, both the exterior and the interior, certainly has a more refined and matured appeal. Add to that a long list of equipment and what you get is an excellent package.

With already 1.3 million units of the X5 sold worldwide, the third generation model looks set to increase the count significantly. Here is a recent promotional video of the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) released by BMW. The promo tries to convey that the new BMW X5 is as good off the road as it is on it.

For the first time in its history, the SAV comes with an entry level X5 sDrive35i rear wheel drive variant. The rest of the variants offer four wheel drive as standard.

Petrol engines on offer are a 3.0 litre in-line TwinPower turbocharged motor which produces 300bhp and a 4.4 litre TwinPower turbo V8 which is capable of 445 bhp. The lone oil burner is a 3.0 litre TwinPower turbo unit that makes 255 bhp. All the variants come with an 8-speed automatic transmission as standard.

BMW has announced the pricing of the new BMW and the global delivers will be commencing shortly. As far as India is concerned, the company is busy preparing for the launch of the 1 Series and that means we will have to wait for the new X5 a little longer.
