Notwithstanding the slowdown in the auto industry, the global car makers are upbeat about the upcoming Auto Expo 2014.

We are still a good half a year away from the biggest motoring event in Asia but all the available show floor spaces for the expo have already been booked by 40 automotive brands, according an Economic Times report. Next year's expo will witness the participation of new players like Isuzu, Great Wall Motors, Datsun, Hyosung, etc.

Sugata Sen, deputy director general at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) stated -

Even as the Indian market is reeling under severe slowdown, we have seen an unexpected gush of automakers. We are planning to have this Auto Expo on a grand scale next year. We will have the largest number of companies participating displaying of highest number of cars, bikes and other vehicles even shown in India.

Auto Expo 2014 will take place in February instead of January. The venue has been shifted from Pragati Maidan, Delhi, to the India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida. The move is to avoid a clash with the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) and after concerns were raised by participants on the quality of infrastructure.

The Auto Expo is the biggest motoring show in the world in terms of visitor footfall. The upcoming event is expected to host the global premiere of many concepts and there's no doubt that compact crossover SUVs will be in the limelight. Going by logic Honda's urban SUV and Maruti's XA Alpha make may make their Indian premieres at the event.
