Takashi Kikuchi is Isuzu India's new Managing Director

Isuzu India has announced that it has appointed Mr. Takashi Kikuchi as its Managing Director. Mr. Kikuchi who has been instrumental for Isuzu's growth worldwide, now has the responsibility for operations of the company in India. Mr. Kikuchi has served Isuzu for over 30 years.

Isuzu entered India early this year, while operating from a single dealership located at Andhra Pradesh. That number has now gone up to two outlets, with another dealership at Coimbatore, Tamilnadu.

Isuzu is has also signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to build a manufacturing plant catering to LCV's (Light Commercial Vehicles). The proposed facility is located in SriCity in Southern Andhra Pradesh and Isuzu intends to produce 100,000 units of LCV's per annum within a few years time.

The Isuzu lineup in India now includes the MU-7 SUV which competes with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ssangyong Rexton. It is priced at INR 24.17 lakhs ex-showroom Hyderabad. The 1.9-tonne MU-7 is powered by a 3.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with 163PS of power and 360Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels.

The MU-7 is a CBU from Thailand with only 60 units earmarked for India this year.

The other Isuzu is the D-Max pickup truck which is priced at about INR 8.1 lakhs ex-showroom Hyderabad. It is imported as a commercial vehicle and competes with pickups such as the Mahindra Genio and Tata Xenon.
