Being the first production Volvo Polestar product, the performance version of the S60 packs in 345 bhp from a straight six petrol motor. The power output is much lesser than the concept's 508 bhp, but the car has inherited the dynamic improvements, making it a taut handler.

The Swedish car maker has released a video named "The Journey" which involves Polestar racing and development driver Robert Dahlgren driving the car from Spain to Sweden covering a distance of 3,777 km. During the journey, Dahlgren speaks about the S60 Polestar's strengths and how challenging it was to develop the first production performance car.

He says that the standard S60 T6 formed a very good base, enabling the Polestar team to come up with a real fire cracker of a machine. The car will be initially marketed in Australia in limited numbers to assess whether it makes a business case for itself to be sold globally.

Speaking to Indian Autos Blog through a telephonic conference, Mr. Thomas Andersson, VP, Volvo Cars told that if the S60 Polestar is received well in the Australian market, it could be sold globally. He also stated that the Polestar aftermarket tuning package for Volvo cars will be available in India in the near future.

If the Volvo S60 Polestar makes it to regular production, it would be positioned to take on sports saloons like the BMW M3, Mercedes C 63 AMG and the Audi S4. We welcome such a move, may be with more firepower!
