Skoda begins production of the Superb facelift in Kvasiny

The Skoda Superb facelift which made its world premiere on the eve of Auto Shanghai 2013 has entered production.

The redesigned sedan has started rolling out of the assembly line at Skoda's Kvasiny plant in Czech Republic. Despite being a cosmetic affair, Skoda say that the factory has been extensively modernized and extended to accommodate the production of the flagship model.

Both the Superb sedan and the Superb Combi estate will be manufactured at the renovated facility. The market launch of the duo is set at the end of June.

The assembly and paint shops of the Kvasiny plant have been modified and are equipped with new tools and equipment. The car maker has also installed new test rigs for the final assembly and has optimized its logistics operations to incorporate "just-in-sequence" concept for the delivery of axles.

The Skoda Superb facelift comes with a host of changes inside and out. The front fascia now subscribes to the Czech automaker's latest design guidelines. The rear of the car also features extensive reskinning with completely new boot lid and taillights.

Under the skin, the new Superb gets tweaked powertrains. The fuel consumption and CO2 emission have reduced by up to 19%.

We expect the new Skoda Superb to make its Indian debut at Auto Expo 2014 that is scheduled to take place in the month of February.
