HOnda Amaze mumbai launch silverThe booking figures of Honda's latest launch, the Amaze, is growing day by day and it has boldly stood against the competition offered by Maruti Dzire.

According to Business-standard.com, the entry level sedan has received more than 22,000 bookings within three weeks of its launch.

The first diesel powered car from Honda has been well received by customers. Honda showrooms are repeatedly encountering consumers wanting for test drives and as a result the dealership outfits are working over time.

The successful reception of Amaze in the market largely depends on the record breaking fuel economy it offers and the aggressive price tag. The base petrol variant starts at 4.99lakhs while the diesel model begins from 5.99lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi).

With the sales figures of 4,852 units, Honda has registered 20% growth since the launch of Amaze family sedan. This is about thrice more than that of the Brio hatchback and the City sedan.

This has come up at the time when the auto industry is facing a downturn in sales numbers. In March, the car segment saw 23% fall in sales according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Honda has a production capacity of 10,000 units per month and the way Amaze is picking up means that the Japanese giant will have its work cut out at its factory in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The press shop and the powertrain unit at Tapukara, Rajasthan is also running at full throttle.

Honda has invested Rs 2,500 crore to double its total annual capacity to 240,000 units with a new production line in Tapukara plant by 2014.
