News comes in from New Delhi that Swift Dzire sedan and Ertiga MPV have been awarded with the prestigious India Design Mark: Good Design Award.
This design award is given to recognize product designers/products that enhance our day-to-day life. The jury consisted of India’s leading design experts and faculty members of various institutes that teach industrial design. The jury judged the product line up on parameters such as:
- Simplicity of the design
- Trustworthy products
- Reliability
- Offering a true value for money
- And manufactured in a responsible manner
This is the second time Maruti Suzuki has cleaned the India Design Mark award ceremony. In 2012, the Swift and the Wagon R cleaned the table.
As you may have judged by now, the India Design Mark jury is not looking for the most flamboyant and imaginative design but one that offers the best trade-off between practicality and aesthetics.
While it can be argued that the Swift Dzire and the Ertiga are not really the best design on sale in the Indian market, they surely are not an eye sore. They indeed offer the best trade-off between practicality and aesthetics which a common man appreciates.
