The Nissan Esflow was a pure electric concept which debuted at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The design study was touted to be the precursor to the small sportscar.

Addressing the Australian media on the sidelines of New York Auto Show, Mr. Andy Palmer, executive vice president of Nissan said: "We think that there is room below the 370Z for something very special. And for that we will see you at Tokyo. I think there is room for both petrol-electric hybrid and pure electric."

However it remains to be seen whether the car in question is going to be a production ready version or a yet another concept vehicle. Nissan is expected to showcase its electric mobility solution in a sportscar package.

The Esflow concept was a pure electric two seat sports car. Each rear wheel of the concept is powered by an electric motor which derives power from a lithium-ion battery pack. The weight of the concept is kept under check by the use of aluminum frame and composite body panels.

The car can accelerate from 0-100 kph in less than 5 seconds. The estimated range of a full charge is claimed by 240 km.

With the new baby sportscar, Nissan could attempt to experiment the high performance electric mobility.
