Mahindra Verito hatch CSIt was only yesterday that we brought you news that the sub-four meter Mahindra Verito could be called the 'Verito Vibe'. Today, Mahindra has confirmed the news by launching a press release.

We read the press release with our magnifying glasses to spot clues that would help bring light on the notchback/sedan profile the Verito Vibe would be having. However, Mahindra has cleverly worded it and there is still no official word as to whether the Vibe is a sedan or not.

Mahindra prefers to say that the Vibe is 'indigenously designed and developed and is smartly packaged in a sub-4 metre length'.

What is clearly worded is that the Verito Vibe will be launched next month. While we have known it all along, the release makes it official that the Vibe will be sporting the 1.5-liter dCi diesel engine that already does duty in the Verito and many other Renault/Nissan cars.

Mahindra say that the Vibe will sport some first in class styling cues that will appeal to the younger audience, as will the name of the car.

“The Verito Vibe marks our entry in the high volume sub 4 metre segment. While developing this product we have paid particular attention to making this car look different and we are sure that it will appeal to customers with its young and sporty looks and that too without compromising the benefits which our existing Verito has to offer."

The Verito is the first generation Renault/Dacia Logan, the manufacturing rights to which was brought by Mahindra in 2011. Mahindra quickly relaunched the product without the Renault lozenge and encouraging numbers prompted them to carry out a reskinning program. The refreshed Verito was launched last year with improvements to the exterior and interior.

The Mahindra Verito Vibe meanwhile will be positioned as a competitor to the Honda Amaze and Swift Dzire, the two low-end B segment saloons that appear to have a smooth road ahead despite challenging market conditions.
