Honda Amaze blueIndian Autos Blog has learned that over 25,000 website visitors have registered on Honda's Amaze section to get notifications on the car.

Honda will launch the Amaze in India tomorrow in New Delhi, announcing all details including prices. At least 2,500 vehicles have been dispatched to dealers all across India and bookings began officially last week.

The company may not reveal booking numbers now and the first retail performance report will emerge at the end of the month when Honda usually reveals sales volumes of all products.

The Amaze launches in three variants - 1.5L diesel with 5-speed MT, 1.2L petrol with 5-speed MT and 1.2L petrol with 5-speed AT. The wheelbase of the Amaze is about 60mm longer that Brio. Despite measuring under four meters in overall length, thanks to a short front overhang, thinner seat backs and a pushed-in dashboard design, the Amaze has amazingly good rear knee room and 400 liters of boot space.

Honda held the world premiere and market launch of the Amaze in Thailand last year and India is the second country to welcome it. Honda hasn't ruled out the possibility of exporting the Amaze to South Africa, where the India-made Brio is doing decently well. There however appears to be no plans for LHD variants.

Can Honda price the Amaze on par with the Swift Dzire to quietly begin the erosion of its market share and eventually end its outright dominance in the entry-level sedan segment?
