Is Toyota advancing the next generation Etios to 2015?

According to a report on, Toyota has changed its future plans on the Etios. Apparently, the Japanese giant will be launching the all-new next generation Toyota Etios in the year 2014.

The report claims that the new sedan will be launched in late 2014, followed by the hatch in early 2015.

To recap, Toyota unveiled the concept versions of the twins at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo to study customer feedback. The production version of the sedan was launched in late 2010, while the hatchback’s veil came off in mid-2011, first with a petrol engine, followed shortly by the diesel guise.

The Etios may not have lived up to the expectations of the company and car users across various geographical domains. The new master plan that Toyota would probably implement is said to transform the overall image of both hatchback and sedan. The image overhaul would include upgrading the interiors and the exteriors to the extent that it not only performs well but also looks extravagantly sleek and robust.

Basing the new Etios on the Dear Qin Concept, unveiled last year in Beijing, sounds like a good idea!

The centrally-mounted instrument cluster is likely to move behind the steering wheel on the next generation. We do hope that the swoopy design language seen on the Dear Qin concepts influence designers penning the second generation model. The general feedback from our readership is that the Etios’ design needs more pep.

This is not the first time the Etios has been revised as on two occasions over the last two years, the interior, features and sound proofing of the car have been revised or upgraded. Can the overall changes incorporated in the next generation model have the firepower to bring a complete change in perception?

Toyota, if you are reading this, please get rid of the smiling grille. Get some creases on the sides. Your present facelift, is hardly a facelift. Hopefully, you make a car worthy of the brand it represents.

  2. Manish says:

Toyota is the name we trust, as they have very very good products across the globe, but when it comes to India, they give cheap quality products, underestimating Indians in any ways. My bro brought Etios sedan, from the day first , one can feel the cheap quality, which Toyota is never known for. One wiper ? One reverse light ? the metal used is very very low quality? The car body touches the surface on every bump?

This is not real quality of Toyota, customers will be shocked buying this product. Even my first Maruti 800 never had this all products.

I am shocked, I know Toyota which gives high quality cars, across the globe. I think Indian Toyota is some low end cousin.

Once upon a time I dreamt of owing a Toyota, but now, no more Toy-O-Ta . I don’t buy or advise any products, whose manufacturer give secondary treatment to India and Indian people.

    1. Vipin says:

      Well said Mr. Manish.

Toyota thought because of their brand name everyone will blindly buy their sedan.

And their sales is gonna even get worse when Amaze was launched.

TOYOTA, you can’t fool Indian Customers any more. Stop your cheap cars importing to our country.

If you can’t give us good cars, then go away. We don’t need you.

The Etios is also sold in Brazil and the treatment is the same here with the Brazilians, are treated as second-class people , although we provide the same value to products from Europe and the United States .The Etios is not having good sales , not being well accepted in Brazil .We await an improvement since the Etios belongs to a quality brand with Toyota .We have here an example the Corolla , despite being very different from the American Corolla.

  3. really….but the Etios is gaining
in sales and toyota is already 3rd in sales ranking..But then the Qualis was replaced by the INNOVA and Toyota was laughing all the way to the bank…
