The Suzuki Ertiga turned out to be the perfect extended-family vehicle with both Indian and Indonesian customers alike and there was no looking back for the compact crossover MPV since the day it launched.

Suzuki Ertiga for Indonesia

The Ertiga's third stop will be Thailand and we brought you the news earlier about the media drive being completed for Thai publications. According to a report by Autonetmagz.com, the Ertiga for Thailand will be exported from Indonesia, which in turn imports CKD kits from Maruti.

Autonetmagz.com also reports that PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales has registered a new vehicle with the Indonesian Ministry of Industry with a codename AV1414F TYPE SDX AT suggesting that the automatic version of the Ertiga is on its way. The website also reports the that auto tranny is a 4-speed unit, just like the ones found on the Dzire and the Ritz back home. The Ertiga shares its core hardware with the Swift and Dzire so the transplant won't consume a lot of Maruti's time or resources.

The automatic transmission would help Ertiga gain more ground to the segment kingpins Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia (badge engineered Avanza) both of which offer this feature.

Considering the CKD kits for the Indonesian Ertiga is being shipped from India by Maruti Suzuki, we suspect that Maruti also could be considering an automatic version of the Ertiga albeit only for the petrol variant.
