Honda’s Indian arm confirmed last year that the launch of the Amaze will be held in the next financial year. Honda is conducting the product media drive program later this month, and according to reports, the launch would be done and dusted by the end of April.

Preceding the launch of the product, manufacturers send prototypes to the dealers to train their sales and service staff. Then come the series production cars that play demo cars and the cars for first deliveries.

We don’t know under which category this blue example falls, but we can assure you that the countdown to Honda’s most awaited launch since the company’s entry into the Indian market has started!

Team-BHP.com fan Rajesh Rao has shared pictures of the Amaze at an Indian dealership in the top-end VX trim level. On a casual glance, there are no distinguishable visual changes between the Indian and Thai-spec vehicles, both feature the same chrome-plated grille and somewhat similar alloy wheels. But look carefully at the images and you’d notice body colored bumpers and the “VX” badge on the boot lid unique to India. The ground clearance of the India-spec Amaze is slightly higher than the Thai model according to the Team-BHP report.

The 1.5L diesel engine’s exact specifications are not made known yet, but expect the power output to range between 85-90 bhp. ARAI’s fuel efficiency rating for the baby Honda is 23kpl. The petrol option is the same 1.2L which makes 87bhp. Automatic Transmission would be an optional feature, like on the Brio.

Moving to the features the Amaze gets manual air-conditioning, dual airbags, ABS and EBD, rear demister, side mirrors with integrated indicator lamps, arm-rest with integrated cup holders at the rear seat. The boot space is 400 liters and the dashboard is a direct lift out of the Brio.

With strong brand recall, an academic reliability and quality track record, a very fuel efficient diesel motor and excellent interior packaging, the Amaze guns for the Swift Dzire, India’s best selling sedan. Should Maruti be concerned?

The Instrument panel looks very out dated & Seat fabrics too. Dzire looks better in terms of interiors.

Mileage looks very impressive and comparable to dzire.

Honda is known for premium pricing on its products. If they do so it will be a suicide..!

Nonda has to keep price very competative otherwise people has very good choice from trusted Suzuki Desire for years. You cannot demand at a premium when you have to establish and prove yourself in front of Giant competator Swift desire

Well, pretty impressive specs. The overall quality looks great and this could just be the silent killer of 2013, considering the legendary reliability and quality of Honda cars. Looks a complete package than the highly compromised and overrated Ecosport.

Another 1.5 liter diesel, 85-90 bhp after Nissan Sunny/ Renault Scala and Ford Fiesta. 400 liter boot space with ample space for people sounds amazing, puts enough challenge even to the segment higher. And the higher powered of this engine in Honda City would seal the segment leader position.

Honda is a world beater ! Maruti Suzuki is just an India king !! Honda is in a different league alltogether when it comes to engineering capabilities.

First and foremost, the build quality and interiors looks pretty good from the pics. And, the rear legroom seems to be pretty decent too.

If Honda prices the Amaze in the Dzire band, expect the first Big Super Hit from Honda in India.

Yes, Maruti has to be concerned. This car is far better than the ugly looking Dzire and the built quality, Honda badge and all makes it far better than the Dzire.
