Range Rover 3.0 litre TDV6The 2013 Range Rover was launched in India back in November last year with a pair of high displacement V8 engines - 5.0 litre petrol and 4.4 litre diesel.

JLR India has now launched the entry level Range Rover with the 3.0 litre TDV6 turbocharged diesel engine. The power plant generates 258 bhp and 600 Nm of torque, which is 81 bhp and 100 Nm less than the power and torque produced by the 4.4 litre V8 diesel engine respectively.

The motor is paired to a 8-speed ZF gearbox which was tuned by Land Rover engineers to make it suitable for the Range Rover. The Range Rover 3.0L TDV6 can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds which is 1 second shy of the 4.4 litre V8 diesel variant.

The V6 engine is more frugal and that explains why the fuel tank capacity is just 85 litres while the bigger engined variants come with a 105 litre tank. The engine option is available in two variants - HSE and Vogue.

"The all-new Range Rover has been very well received in India and this new 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel engine will broaden its appeal even further. To deliver the model’s characteristic effortless performance, we are pleased to give customers the choice of three engines that combine swift and responsive execution."

JLR India however, hasn't mentioned anything about the pricing of the new variants.
