This one comes from the lens of our avid reader Mr. Vimalraj. J from Chennai. The spotting has now become a regular occurrence that all regular Indian Autos Blog readers would be knowing the vital details about the car.

For starters the sub-four metre Verito boasts an unconventional rear, a huge debate can be had on whether it is a hatchback or a sedan. The very motive behind the baby Verito's positioning is to target both the hatchback and sedan customers.

The compact Verito would try to be a spacious alternative to B Segment hatchbacks and one of its talking points would be the venerable 1.5 litre K9K engine which is sourced from Renault. The 65 bhp diesel engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. No petrol engine is expected to be on offer as Mahindra does not have an engine that fits the regulation to deem the chopped Verito a 'small car'.

Mahindra officials have told Indian Autos Blog on a number of previous occasions that the compact Verito would be launched this year. The car will continue to use the Verito nameplate albeit with a suffix which is yet to be announced.
