The SUV struck a chord with Indian car buyers right from the day one, thanks to its appealing appearance. The car has been here since 2002 and has received periodical refreshes with added equipment.

There has not been a refresh off late but the Scorpio manages to clock more than 4,000 units most of the months. However in order to remind people of the SUV, especially after the advent of the Renault Duster, Mahindra has released a new TV commercial which is yet to be aired on TV.

The advertisement starts off with a burglary of a high value object from a museum and the culprit speeds away in his sports car. The hero who obviously has the Scorpio pursues the burglar along the mountain roads and tows his car back where it all started thereby emphasizing on the Scorpio's off road capabilities and power.

The entire TVC has inspiration from the Bond flicks in terms of the music and the plot. Here is the director's cut version of the commercial.

The Scorpio is powered by the 2.2 litre mHawk diesel engine which pumps out 120 bhp. The regular option is a 5 speed manual gearbox but there is also a 6-speed automatic transmission in the offing.

During one of our previous interactions with Dr. Pawan Goenka, President of Mahindra's automotive sector, he stated that the Scorpio would be refreshed in a due course.
