IOLMotoring reports that Mahindra is preparing the Quanto for its South African debut.

Mahindra Quanto

M&M already sells a wide range of products in the South African market such as the XUV500, Xylo, Scorpio, Scorpio Pik-up and multiple variants of the Genio. Now, it is time for the South Africans to enjoy the budget UV from Mahindra.

The need for upgrading from the sedan or a hatchback to an SUV is consistent across markets, be it India, Europe or South Africa. Thus, to tap into potential demand, Mahindra has decided take the Quanto to South Africa.

Considering South Africa is a RHD market, there is hardly anything required to change in the product. The Quanto will even carry the 1.5-litre mCR100 diesel engine with twin-scroll turbocharging technology to South Africa. This engine is capable of 100 PS and 240 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Thanks to the Start-Stop system, the Quanto can deliver a respectable mileage of 17.2 kmpl.

The Mahindra Quanto is based on the same ‘Ingenio’ platform of the Xylo but is 535 mm shorter than the elder brother. Being smaller means it is also 190 kg lighter than the Xylo.

No word yet as to how much the Quanto will cost in South Africa. Rest assured, we will keep you updated on the Quanto's journey to South Africa, so stick around to IndianAutosBlog.com.
