New York Live – You cannot say no to the Chevrolet SS!
Shrawan Raja, I'm the Founder & CEO of IndianAutosBlog.com. I love teamwork and talking about cars.
The Chevrolet SS is the American version of the Holden SS V (Australian model) and is built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Camaro, the facelift of which is also making its global premiere in New York today.
The Chevrolet SS is the first rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet performance sedan in 17 years.
The engine bay is filled with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that packs 415HP and 562 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission that allows the car accelerate from 0-100kph in about 5 seconds.
Its 19-inch alloy wheels are wrapped with 245/40 and 275/35 tires at the front and rear respectively. 335-mm Brembo two-piece disc brakes with four-piston calipers at the front provide the stopping power.
The car is equipped with MacPherson struts at the front and a trapezoidal multi-link setup at the rear. The steering is electronically assisted (EPAS)
The 2014 Chevrolet SS is claimed to have a near 50/50 front/rear weight distribution and a low center of gravity.
The car will be launched in the market in the fourth quarter of the year. As standard the car gets eight-way power adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, touch screen for the MyLink and navigation systems on the center console, a nine-speaker Bose audio system, a color head-up display (HUD) and push-button start.
Safety-wise, the car gets Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, a rear-vision camera with cross traffic alert, Side Blind Zone Alert and Automatic Parking Assist.
