Spied - Production ready Fiat 500XL continues testing

It's hardly been a week since we brought you a spyshot of the Fiat 500XL - the highly desirable 7-seater which shares a lot of bits with the iconic Fiat 500 that sadly doesn't have immediate plans to attack the Indian market.

And already, Mr. Walter Vayr, a Autoblog.it reader has snapped a generous helping of photos of the 500XL while it was testing on the Italian roads. The photographs reveal the car in almost every possible angle, save for the interior and the third row of seats.

The 500XL is basically a longer version of the compact MPV - the 500L. Which happens to be a bigger version of the hatchback - the 500 (you see where this is going?).

Anyway, the 500XL is a necessity for the Italian manufacturer given that the demand for 7/8 seater people carriers will increase across the globe moving into this decade.

Does that mean it would be coming to India? No, not at least till 2016 as that's what Fiat India's product plan suggests.

A shame really considering that the 500XL does look good and more importantly, it is a people carrier you would desire owning. From the front, the 500XL carries that cheeky 500 look. At the rear, you can see those characteristic 500 like 'squircle' (square and a circle) tail lights.

The 500XL would most likely give the Renault/Dacia Lodgy stiff competition. Expect Fiat to use their Twin Air engine and for diesel lovers, the Multijet engine would be doing duty on the MPV in 1.3L and 1.6L displacements.

With an expected launch by the end of this year, Fiat should showcase the production car at the Geneva Motor Show or the Frankfurt Motor Show.
