GM India targets to sell 48,000 units of the Sail platform products in 2013. The Sail sedan is launched into a segment that has a monthly volume of 40,000 units. Over 94 pre-production models of the Sail sedan were built and tested across India, from -20 - 50 degrees centigrade. We can vouch for that almost every IAB reader has seen one in the last year, somewhere in India.

On the sidelines of the press meet, he informed IndianAutosBlog.com that trial production of the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV would begin in the afternoon hours at their manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat.

Mr. Balendran stated "Our product will standout in the marketplace against the competition in terms of styling, performance and pricing and value for money. It is definitely going to compete with the Ertiga. We are quite upbeat about the product."

Mr. Balendran ruled out the Trax and the Trailblazer for India's growing utility vehicles segment. He said GM India has no plans to get new SUV products, and that the Captiva would be the only one in that category. He declined to reply on future product programs beyond the Enjoy.

At the Chevrolet Sail media drive program last year in Amby Valley, Maharastra, Mr. Lowell Paddock, Managing Director of GM India, told IndianAutosBlog.com that the Chevy Enjoy would get two seating configurations - 2+3+3 and 2+2+3 - and would continue with the same 1.3L diesel engine seen on the Sail, sporting FGT (Fixed Geometry Turbocharger) technology. The Enjoy is sold as the Wuling Hongguang in China, and is one of the best selling vehicles in the Chinese auto industry.

Meanwhile our reader George Anthraper sent us images of the Chevrolet Enjoy from one of its test runs.
