Fiat 500X renderingThe Fiat 500X compact crossover SUV could be the turnaround specialist for the Italian automaker who is right now focused on tackling the European financial crisis that has resulted in heavy losses.

The company which usually gives importance to small and affordable cars has now shifted its emphasis towards bigger and premium cars since they bring in more profit margin to the table.

The firm's CEO Mr. Sergio Marchionne is banking on SUV models from both Fiat and Jeep brands to get through these tough times and hence the spot light is on the Fiat 500X.

Fiat has announced that the compact crossover SUV along with a baby Jeep will be produced at the company's Melfi plant which is being heavily revamped for the job. The 500X is expected to be richly equipped to take on the premium rivals in its category.

Auto.dmir.ru presents us the rendering of the SUV and reports that the production version of the Fiat 500X will be showcased at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show which opens doors on March 5th.

The website also states that the SUV measures 4.15 metres in length. The speculated powertrain options are the 1.4 litre MultiAir turbo petrol engine and the popular 1.3 MultiJet diesel engine.

With an attractive styling and a promising mechanical package, the 500X could easily become the most important model in Fiat's future portfolio. However, the 500X is not going to be the B Segment SUV that Fiat India has promised. Instead Fiat is coming up with a Punto with rough road package.

Do you think that the Fiat 500X is what Fiat India needs the most in the present scenario?
