It is indeed Valentine’s day and it is time for India to fall in love with the BMW X1 all over again.
BMW India has launched the facelifted version of the BMW X1 at a price of Rs. 27.9 lakhs.
India fell in love with the BMW X1 when it was launched in 2009. To be able to afford a BMW for the price of humdrum SUVs such as the CR-V, the Fortuner and the Captiva was something extraordinary for Indian masses. A luxury German badge was suddenly within the reach of many. The X1 crossover managed to keep BMW India on top for a good 3 years! BMW has sold 5,345 X1s in India so far.
However the times are changing and the X1 is feeling the heat from the competition such as the Audi Q3 and Mercedes B-Class. Thus, BMW India has decided to the show its rivals who created the whole segment in the first place.
The BMW X1 facelift was unveiled at the New York Motor Show in April 2012. Being the best seller in BMW’s ‘X’ range, there was no requirement to change the recipe drastically. Slight update to the front and rear fascia was enough to pump some life. Here are the changes –

At a price tag of Rs. 27.9 lakhs for the entry level diesel variant, the BMW X1 is no doubt still very good value for money but can it do the same magic that it did 3 years ago now that the Audi, Mercedes and even Volvo are pretty serious about this segment?
