The folks at Rush Lane have filed another story with photographs revealing more angles of the Maruti SX4 facelift. They have spotted the same vehicle, but this time in Pune.

The SX4 is being refreshed as it has been about two years since the all important diesel variant came in, but produced unfavorable results. In the last two years, the Hyundai Verna, VW Vento, Skoda Rapid and Nissan Sunny have taken over the segment, which was once the bastion of the Honda City, the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Maruti SX4. The new launches have rewritten the segment rules with bigger engines, bigger boots, better features, better comfort and better quality.

The recent news update also comes with better shots of the rear. Maruti has left it unchanged, even the tail lights sport the same detailing. A new music system and a mildly revised central console is said to feature on the SX4 facelift's largely unchanged interior.

The diesel engine will be the same 1.3 litre four cylinder DDIS which puts out 90PS/200Nm. The engine which is essentially the Fiat's MultiJet is good enough for 21.5 kmpl under the hood of the SX4.

The company is managing to sell only about 500 units of the Maruti SX4 in a month and some relief can come in the form of the facelift. In the long run, Maruti have to get a bigger engine, a 1.5L+ diesel engine and overhaul the interior and exterior thoroughly. Seats, trims and the dashboard from smaller siblings such as the Dzire and Ertiga should not be permitted to enter the SX4's cabin.

Maruti must be waiting to get its hands on the S-Cross Concept based SX4 sedan to get back into the game.
