Nissan Sylphy, which is also called as the Nissan Sentra in some markets is the Japanese car maker’s global D-Segment contender.

The Nissan Sylphy debuted at the Beijing Auto Show last year. The car went on sale in China, Thailand and Japan and started going places like North America, Australia, New Zealand and Middle East.

Nissan has plans to sell the Sylphy in more than 100 international markets in due course and that brings India under the radar as well. Mr. Sanjay G., head of marketing at Nissan India has told Indian Autos Blog that the company is waiting for the right opportunity to bring the Nissan Sylphy to India.

Meanwhile, Nissan has started testing the Sylphy in Brazil where it is most likely to be called as the Sentra. Guys at Noticiasautomotivas.com.br have managed to snap an uncomouflaged test mule of the sedan in Brazil.

The Brazil bound car is expected to be imported from Mexico and as with most of the Brazilian cars, it will sport a Flex Fuel engine which is capable of running on both petrol and ethanol. The Nissan Centra could use the 1.8 litre 130 bhp Flex Fuel motor or a bigger 2.0 litre 143 bhp version with optional CVT auto transmission.

Nissan Sylphy does not have a diesel engine in its current global lineup but when Nissan decides to bring the sedan to India, it could make use of the 1.5 K9k, perhaps the 110 bhp version of it which does the duty in Renault Fluence and the Duster.

However, Nissan India’s immediate focus would be to bring its version of Duster and to launch the Datsun brand successfully.
