Not many models in the automotive world are 30 years old. Well, the Nissan Micra just turned 30 and it is celebrating its birthday in style.
A Japanese compact car that is hugely successful worldwide, the first generation Micra landed on the scene in 1982 to challenge the successful run of the Honda City. Since then, four generations of the Nissan Micra have seen the light of the day with over 6 million copies sold worldwide.
This Nissan Micra is a very important car in the Italian market. Since its launch in 1989, the Micra has won the hearts of over half a million people. So to celebrate this momentous occasion, Nissan Italy has launched a special edition ‘Nissan Micra 30th Anniversary’. The model boasts of –
- 15-inch, seven-spoke alloy wheels
- Roof spoiler inspired by the DIG-S model
- Body colored handles and ORVM
- And the typical ‘special edition’ badges on the side and the rear
Standard features include –
- Air conditioning
- Electric front windows
- Central locking with remote control
- Six airbags
- Front and rear headrests
- Power steering
- ESP (with a button that can turn it off)
- Isofix attachments.
This special edition model is powered by a 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder, petrol motor with 80 hp. You can have it with a five speed manual or an automatic CVT transmission. You can also have it in a bi-fuel option (petrol and LPG). Prices start at 12,810 Euros (9.26 lakhs).
Micras that land in Europe are supplied from the Chennai factory. Perhaps, we could also see Nissan marketing its history give the Micra a differentiation in the crowded Indian hatchback market.
