Ever since Jeep has announced its entry into India, we at Indian Autos Blog has set our eyes on the SUV maker. The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be one of the early candidates along with Wrangler to say 'Namaste' to India.
The Fiat Group owned Jeep is in the process of refreshing their Grand Cherokee for the 2014 model year and here are the spyshots of the car as presented by "Mr. Source" (left) and Mr. Andrew Baumea (right) of Allpar.com. The interior pic was taken by Allpar.com reader 'F-One' while the exterior photo comes from 'Mr.Source'. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee will not only undergo a minor cosmetic surgery but also will receive some mechanical upgrades.
As far as the visual changes go, the new Grand Cherokee gets a new headlamp with daytime LED running lights, refreshed front fascia, a neat tailgate and few interior upgrades. The SUV also gets the UConnect touchscreen multimedia infotainment system.
Under the skin, the Grand Cherokee is expected to offer same set of engines as the current version but with improvements on power and mileage. The petrol options are a base 3.6 litre V6, 5.4 litre HEMI V8 and the range topping 6.4 litre HEMI SRT V8.
Two V6 diesel motors that are sourced from VM Motori with reported power outputs of 190 bhp and 250 bhp are expected to join the line up. The car will also get an all new 8-speed gearbox with paddle shifter to improve the efficiency.
The updated Grand Cherokee will be unveiled at this month's Detroit Auto Show as a 2014 model.
