Hyundai Santa Fe trumps Mercedes M Class and new Range Rover in Euro-NCAP ranking!

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe in motionThe new Hyundai Santa Fe which was launched globally last year has emerged as the top ranker in its category at the Euro-NCAP's (New Car Assessment Program) list for 2012.

In the report released last November after testing the Hyundai Santa Fe, Euro-NCAP conferred five star ratings on the SUV. The Santa Fe scored 96% in adult occupant protection and scored full marks in the side barrier test.

In the child occupant and safety assist categories, the Hyundai SUV came out with 89% and 86% respectively. Euro-NCAP has now released the rank list of all the cars that has been tested last year and the Santa Fe tops the 'Large Off-road 4x4' category which also saw participation from the 2012 Mercedes M Class and the tech laden Range Rover.

On this achievement, Mr. Allan Rushforth, Hyundai Europe's Senior Vice President and Chief Operation Officer stated that, "Having the new generation Santa Fe recommended by Euro NCAP as the safest car in its class demonstrates Hyundai’s commitment to the safety of its customers and other road users."

Hyundai Santa Fe will be the South Korean car maker's important launch this year in India. Hyundai India has already completed the initial phase of customer clinics for the car and is expected to launch it by mid-2013. The prices are expected to range from Rs. 23-25 lakhs.
