The new year has started rolling but there is still no sign of the Ford EcoSport's arrival.

The number of EcoSport test mules plying on our roads is always increasing and every spotting gives the prospective customers a hope that the much awaited crossover is inching closer to its launch date which still remains as a closely guarded secret.

We have been bringing our readers the spyshots of EcoSport on a regular basis and we have a set of pictures on this occasion too.

Our enthusiastic reader Mr. Pandian K.R. from Coimbatore has sent us what is probably the first spotting of a silver colored Ford EcoSport mule. The mini SUV was being tested on the outskirts of the city, carrying local trade certificate plates.

There is a twist to the story though, the car was an LHD version and carried a 2.0 litre badge in the tailgate.

The 2.0 litre engine is available in Brazilian EcoSport in the bi-fuel guise (petrol and ethanol) and we don't expect Ford to launch the 2.0 litre petrol engine here. We reckon that the test mule is a part of their global testing program or it may be testing a component that is being manufactured by an Indian vendor.

The engine options for India will be the 1.0 litre EcoBoost and the 1.5 litre petrol and diesel engines lifted from the Fiesta. The 5-speed manual gearbox will turn the wheels while the dual clutch PowerShift automatic transmission will be available in the top end petrol variant.

Ford India has also announced that it will export EcoSports, but declined to add when, where and how much.
