After countless spyshots and spy videos, the real deal is right in front of us.

A Malaysian blog CarsBikesTrucks has managed to get its hands on a brochure of a car scale model making company called Jadi Modelcraft. Thus, inadvertently, giving us something that we have been waiting for a long time.

The forthcoming BMW X5 seems like an evolutionary step forward in the model’s bloodline. The front fascia, especially the connected headlight format and grille design, has been heavily influenced by the current BMW 3-Series (F30). We could also see a glimpse of the 4-Series Concept in the front bumper. Coming to the rear, we see that the tail lights have been borrowed from the BMW X3. We can also see a touch of the 5-Series GT at the rear.

There is a very good reason why BMW has chosen a very conservative route for the next generation BMW X5. If something is selling so well, why change it?

Though the looks have not changed much, the hardware is thoroughly revamped. Internally codenamed F15, the BMW X5 is based on an all new ‘X for All’ platform. It is lighter, more rigid and quicker than the outgoing model.

It is supposed to have some wizard technology such as Heads-Up Display, Night Vision, new iDrive system and an adaptive suspension. It is also a lot safer towards the pedestrians thanks to the new pedestrian airbag system.

2014 BMW X5 will feature an exquisite set of engines such as -

  • 2.0-litre four cylinder diesel engine with 245bhp and 349 Nm of torque
  • 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo petrol engine with 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque
  • S63Tu 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 564bhp for the X5M
  • ActiveHybrid variant consisting of a 3.0 litre diesel engine mated to a 109bhp electric motor

All engines will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels.

We are expecting a public debut at this year's Frankfurt Auto Show.
