The all new Range Rover has been launched in India at an eye watering starting price tag of Rs. 1.72 Crore (ex-showroom Delhi).

The latest generation of the Range Rover has taken a big leap in terms of chassis engineering and the all aluminium space frame chassis doesn't come cheap. In fact, the new Range is significantly expensive than the model it replaces but then it's significantly superior too.

The 2012 Range Rover has stepped up on its luxury quotient and also on it's ability to make even the toughest of the terrains to surrender at its feet. The flagship SUV comes with the Land Rover's Terrain Response System 2 which uses electromagnetic fluid to vary the stiffness of the suspension to suit the terrain.

The mammoth is powered by a set of two diesel engines and a petrol engine. The 4.4 litre twin turbo diesel produces 334 bhp and is available in both Vogue and Autobiography variants where as the 5.0 litre supercharged V8 petrol motor which pumps out 503 bhp is exclusive to the Autobiography variant.

The V6 diesel will join the lineup from June 2013.
