The king of the hill in WTCC is definitely Chevrolet which has won the Constructors and Driver Championships three times in a row. To celebrate this success, Chevrolet has launched the Cruze WTCC Edition in China.

Why China?

Well, one of the race of the WTCC was held at the Shanghai F1 Circuit which is the home of Shanghai-GM. As this race was won by Chevrolet, Shanghai-GM wants to celebrate the occasion.

But we think that the real reason behind this special edition is the fact that the year is ending and there may be a few units of the Cruze left in the stockyard. Thus, some marketing gimmickry is quite essential to avoid the one year depreciation.

What do you get?

Pretty much the mundane stuff –

  • A body kit
  • Revised side skirts
  • Race-inspired graphics
  • A new rear bumper
  • A trunk-mounted spoiler

No changes in the engine as well. So the Cruze WTCC Edition will be powered by two engines –

  • 1.6-liter petrol with 115 bhp and 150 Nm of torque
  • 1.8-liter petrol with 145 bhp and 177 Nm of torque

Prices start at 123,900 yuan (INR 10.90 lakhs)
