We were mighty impressed with the Audi Q5’s driving dynamics when we road tested it last month.

However, we were also aware that the current Audi Q5 will be soon pulled off the shelf to make way for the facelift which came into being at this year's Beijing Motor Show.

Our mates at GoaonWheels spotted the Audi Q5 facelift during its pre-launch road tests in Mumbai. The publication reports that there were no badges on the test mule but it was certainly a diesel-powered crossover.

If you are thinking “this looks the same as the old Audi Q5”, then let me ask you to focus on the head lamps which have contoured LED lighting. The facelift (internally known as Audi Q5 PI; PI stands for Product Improvement) given to the Audi Q5 was very subtle with only minor changes. Watch closely to also note a revised six-point grille, refreshed headlights and a slightly updated front bumper.

Audi have also realigned the mechanicals of the Q5. The hydraulic power steering has been replaced with an electrical unit to lower fuel consumption. The chassis is modified for increased ride comfort. No changes to the engine lineup is expected in India, we will continue with two diesels (2.0L TDI and 3.0L TDI) and one petrol (2.0L TFSI)

AutocarIndia reports that Audi is planning to launch the facelifted Q5 first thing in 2013. The publication also reports that Audi India is planning a minor price correction for the facelift when it graces dealers in January.
