As the day of launching the revolutionary Mercedes CLA sedan comes closer, the German giant is getting a bit more vocal about its new baby.

Here is a video of Mercedes testing the AMG version of the Mercedes CLA called Mercedes CLA 45 AMG in their enclosed testing facility.

The Mercedes CLA Class is the Stuttgart makers new entry level sedan that will sit below the Mercedes C Class. The idea is to lower the price point with cars sporting different body styles and attract young buyers and turn them into customers for life. Mercedes have already launched the new A Class (designed from scratch to get the youngster thinking) and they have the GLA Class and the GLG Class coming in the next 3-4 years to give more choice for 25 lakhs.

Think of the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG as a cheaper Mercedes CLS. The AMG version of the Mercedes CLA will most likely be powered by a turbocharged, 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine with 335 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

The engine will be mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission for quicker gear changes. Power will be delivered to all four wheels via Mercedes’s 4Matic AWD system.

The Mercedes CLA 45 AMG will do a 0-100 km/h sprint in about 5 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Mercedes will also endow the CLA 45 AMG with fuel-saving technologies such as brake energy recuperation and an automatic stop-start function.

Being an AMG variant, it will most definitely benefit from stiffened suspension, stronger brakes, sports exhaust systems, aero body kit along with a sportier interior

The regular version of the Mercedes CLA will be officially revealed in January at the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit. The Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG has been confirmed to make its debut next September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Both cars will be manufactured at the new factory in Hungary.
