Mercedes-Benz has launched the E 220 CDI in top of the line Avantgarde trim.
Apart from the usual features available in the Elegance trim, the Avantgarde trim gets the 7-speed G-Tronic automatic transmission, an Eco Start/Stop system, three spoke steering, five spoke alloy wheels, twin exhaust pipes and a 5.8" multimedia screen.
The E 220 CDI Avantgarde will continue to employ the 2.2 litre diesel engine which puts out 170 bhp. It's to be noted that the E 220 CDI is also available with the AMG Sport special edition with bodykits and 7-speed G-Tronic gearbox.
Mercedes will stop the production of the E 250 CDI and E 200 CGI and these models will be sold only till the stocks last. The high demand for the Mercedes ML 250 CDI has reportedly resulted in scarcity of the 250 CDI engines and eventually Mercedes decided to discontinue the E 250 CDI.
In addition, the company will build the E 350 CGI only on order since there is no sufficient demand for the big engined petrol car.
The Mercedes E 220 CDI Avantgarde is priced at Rs. 42.10 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai), whereas the AMG Sport special edition retails at Rs. 39.16 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai).
