The Honda SA website says that the Brio is coming soon and prompts the visitors to register and . Clicking further takes them another page which reveals the tagline of the car and asks for details such as name and address.

The Brio sheds its "It loves you back" tagline and adopts "Life is unreliable. The Honda Brio isn't" for South Africa.

The initial lot of 390 Brios which was shipped last month from India has reached South Africa last week. The cars were built at Honda Cars India's manufacturing plant at Greater Noida.

Honda Brio is powered by a 1.2-litre four cylinder petrol motor which belts out 90 PS of power. The engine is mated to 5-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The latter was launched recently.

The little hatchback will be the cheapest offering of Honda in South Africa and will sit below the Jazz, just like in India.

Made-in-India cars have a good reputation in South Africa. The Toyota Etios (both sedan and hatchback) and Ford Figo both of which are made in India are the second and third best selling cars in South Africa as of now. Other popular cars include the Hyundai i10 and the Tata Indica Vista.
