Pratik & Tapan Dalal are brothers who share their passion for automobiles and driving. The enthusiasm runs in the family and just one look at their garage informs you about their love for cars.

Their garage floor is shining with well maintained cars that include a BMW 320d, Skoda Superb 3.5 V6, a modified Maruti Gypsy, a Maruti Swift in pristine condition and the latest addition which we will focus on today, a Skoda Fabia with after-market parts.

The customized Skoda Fabia 1.6, shown in the picture above, might look like a usual car until you know what's underneath the skin.

The car sits 55mm lower to the ground thanks to the the Bilstein B14 suspension system with adjustable damper and ride height. Power is up by 15 bhp and 30 Nm torque via an ECU remap by Pete’s. The stock air filter is replaced by a K&N. The lovely sounding exhaust system is sourced from Remus. The BFGoodrich tires - 205/40Z R17 - are wrapped around black HRS alloys of 17x7.5J specification.

To sum up the driving experience, the engine’s more responsive with 125 bhp and 186 Nm of torque although initial pickup is still sluggish. The Go-kart-like ride reminds us of the Mini Cooper, with heavily restricted body roll.

With a lowered ride height, racing suspension and grippy performance tyres, no matter how fast you attack a corner, you always feel in control. The downside is the ride over potholes makes you grow respect and develop a deep appreciation for the spine-sparing stock suspension.

Does the Dalal brothers' modified Skoda Fabia 1.6 give you any ideas for your own customization project?
